On arrival into Alice Springs, you will be met at the airport by your local host who will assist with your hire vehicle pick up and hotel check-in. Your afternoon is free to relax or explore Alice Springs at leisure.

Today you have a full day to explore Alice Springs and surrounds at leisure. You may wish to experience the diverse heritage of the city with visits to The Royal Flying Doctor Service Museum, Alice Springs Telegraph Station and the Australian School of the Air Centre. Entry to these three attractions are included with guided tours conducted at each location at various times throughout the day. (B)

Departing from Alice Springs you will head south down into the red heart of Australia to Uluru. During your journey through the stunning desert landscape you should stop for a cold drink and mingle with locals, road train drivers and tourists alike at the bustling Erdunda Roadhouse. Further along on your route you will break at Curtain Springs Cattle Station for a relaxing lunch under the shaded veranda of their café. Enjoy a visit to their papermaking facility before you continue your drive to Uluru. (B,L)

Today you can relax and absorb the beauty of the red centre during a fully guided touring day at Uluru. You have an early morning departure to take in the spectacular Sunrise over Uluru, before returning to your hotel for a relaxed breakfast. After breakfast you have time to explore the Ayers Rock Visitors Centre, which provides information on local history, geology, flora, fauna and Aboriginal culture. This centre is a fantastic outlet to purchase your souvenirs and lunch. In the afternoon you travel west to the viewing platform at the Kata Tjuta, the cluster of rocks known as “The Olgas”. These massive and vividly coloured round Domes are a dramatic outline to this incredible landscape. You also enjoy time at the Uluru-Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre for a leisurely walk on the short Minymaku loop trail. You return to the hotel for time to relax before you depart in the late afternoon a spectacular Sounds of Silence Dinner under the sweeping outback sky with an included visit to the breathtaking Field of Lights art installation before being dropped back to your hotel. Enjoy breakfast at your accommodation and depart for your next destination, Kings Canyon.

In the afternoon you may wish to venture down into the canyon’s valley floor to the exotic Garden of Eden, a permanent waterhole surrounded by lush cycads and plant life, indicating that this part of Australia once had a much more tropical climate. Explore the unusual weathered rock formations that are called the Lost City carved out over time by water and wind erosion. (B)

Accommodation: Kings Canyon Resort

This morning you will join the guided Kings Canyon Rim Walk which takes approximately 4 hours, but the view down the sandstone chasm plunging 270 metres to the canyon floor makes it worthwhile.

The remainder of the day is free for you to relax at the resort or explore the canyon at leisure. (B)

Depart King Canyon and make your way to Alice Springs.
Arrive in Alice Springs and have an afternoon to explore the city at leisure before you are collected from your hotel to join a special sunset tour of the famous Kangaroo Sanctuary, established by Brolga the star of the Kangaroo Dundee TV documentary. (B)

After breakfast you will drive to the Alice Springs airport to deposit your hire car before boarding your return flight to Perth. (B)
